A Field Guide to Pet-Safe Greenery

Every plant in our Pet Friendly collection is non-toxic to cats and dogs per ASPCA guidance. But living well with pets and plants is also about placement and temperament — yours and theirs.

The reliable cast

Parlor palms are the gold standard: feathery, graceful, and harmless even to committed chewers. Calatheas bring the boldest patterns in the safe category — rattlesnake, peacock, medallion. Spider plants are famously safe (though cats find them mildly fascinating, which is a them problem). Peperomias pack endless variety into desk-sized, pet-proof packages. And the money tree gives you safe height when you want a statement.

Placement beats willpower

A bored cat will investigate anything. Hanging baskets and high shelves keep temptation out of reach; heavy floor pots with dense canopies (money tree) survive curiosity better than delicate stems. If a plant is marked 'Keep from pets' on our site, take it literally — a closed office or a tall bookcase, not the coffee table.

When in doubt, check the chip

Every listing shows a pet-safety chip right under the title. Green check: chew away (please don't). Clay warning: admire from a distance.
